Among the co-owners of Mercedes appeared Chinese. One of the owners of the German car manufacturer became Geely.
According to the Reuters news agency, "Gili" bought shares of Daimler – the German automotive concern, which owns the brand Mercedes. Presumably, the Chinese got about 3% of Daimler shares.
Geely became the fifth largest shareholder of Mercedes. Its package is slightly smaller than that of the alliance Renault-Nissan, which owns a 3% stake in Daimler.
The absorption of European automotive assets is part of Geely's strategy. Thus, the company is trying to enter the European market. As part of this strategy, the Chinese have already bought the Swedish Volvo.
Geely cars are not in demand in Ukraine. The Chinese brand is not even included in the TOP-20 popular car brands of the country.
Although the sedan Geely Emgrand 7 is included in the TOP-30 of the cheapest cars in Ukraine.
